There is also a bed settee in the lounge for a further 2 guests if needed. The recently refurbished flat is electrically heated throughout and also has a wood burning stove for cosy winter nights. The comfortable lounge, with superb loch views, has a TV/DVD with Freeview and CD/radio/i pod docking player to give you everything you need for a relaxing stay. The dining kitchen is well equipped and you can enjoy your meals whilst taking in the superb river and loch views from the large window. Things to do and see The Cowal Peninsula gives you access to stunning mountains, lochs, forests and glens with a wide range of activities to suit most people. These include, walking, cycling, fishing, sailing, bird & wildlife watching, photography, golf, mountain biking, and a host of other pursuits on the doorstep. The Holy Loch is particularly noted for its flocks of waders, ducks and seabirds including visiting gannets which can be watched from the windows of Southtop or across the street to the lochside For more relaxing days out there are a host of attractions within a short drive such as Benmore Botanic Gardens, Inverary Castle, Mount Stuart, the Kyles of Bute and the opportunity to reach many of the nearby peninsulas and islands. There are many and varied restaurants and cafes offering local produce nearby as well as local Gala week events so there’s something for everyone. Glasgow and Edinburgh are both easy daytrips using Western Ferries from Hunter’s Quay (15 minutes from Southtop) to Gourock, the road from which soon has you on the M8 to Glasgow or Edinburgh. You could leave the car and try the Argyll passenger Ferry from Dunoon which connects to Gourock railway station with trains to Glasgow.
