Skookum House was designed and built by the owners with the specific intention of offering a quality bed and breakfast. Although we are only 4 minutes drive from the village pub and restaurant and 10 minutes from the main town of Lochgilphead we are quietly surrounded by nature. Situated between Kilmichael Glen and Kilmichael Forest Skookum House really can offer the best of both worlds. From the house you may see red, roe and sika deer, red squirrel, eagle and osprey. Buzzards have nested opposite the house for many years and are a daily sight. Other local wildlife include fox, beaver, otter, seals, whales and dolphins. Fishing permits can be arranged and we can advise on local lochs and rivers (no guarantees on a catch though). There are also areas of free fishing where you can try for wild brown trout and pike. There are numerous cycle trails for all abilities throughout the forest which the Forestry Commission have been actively promoting and maintaining. We have a secure dry store for bikes and an area for washing down. Walkers are well catered for in the area with walks through the Historic Monuments of Kilmartin Glen, the stunning Crinan Canal and the forests of Kilmichael, Benderloch and Knapdale where beaver have recently been reintroduced. We also have a drying area for clothes and boots. We have a strict no smoking policy throughout our home.
