Dunvalanree In Carradale
Dunvalanree is a small licensed hotel and restaurant in Carradale, listed in the Good Food Guide and a member of The Sea Food Trail. We are right next to the sea. Visit our website to book online or better still give us a call. We are small, we offer a warm welcome, laid back but attentive service, a comfortable nights sleep after a meal cooked from fresh ingredients by the chef/proprietor. We serve great local food in our restaurant. Dunvalanree offers excellent value, quality accommodation in a tranquil and beautiful setting, with private garden overlooking the bay below, as well as the mile long beach at Carradale Bay behind the property. Chef-Proprietor Alyson Milstead's menus feature local seafood and farm produce. Everything really is home made from fresh ingredients and the results speaks for themselves!! Dunvalanree's wine list features a number of carefully selected examples and there is a wide selection of malt whisky (over 60), Loch Fyne Ales beers as well as soft drinks. After dinner, enjoy a Springbank whisky and fall asleep to the sound of the sea...... Dunvalanree is a superb base to explore the history and wildlife of the Mull of Kintyre, the birthplace of the nation. All bedrooms en-suite, maintained to a very high standard and have super king or king size beds. Rooms have a colour TV and an extensive Fair Trade hospitality tray including fresh milk for tea or coffee. Kintyre is full of history and archaeology. It was here at Port Righ that Robert the Bruce landed in the autumn of 1306 while fleeing the English. He finally escaped to Rathlin Island and his famous cave (well one of them anyway). But going further back there is evidence of Viking occupation in the place names and further back still there is an iron age fort at Carradale point and the whole area has many burial cysts and standing stones. For keen gardeners there is Achamore Gardens and Skipness Plants. For active days try mountain biking or a trip with Mull of Kintyre Seatours. For quiet chill out days walk barefoot on the sandy beach or stroll the forest paths. Springbank distillery is well worth a visit. Unusually in this age, all parts of the process are carried out on the same site and the business is still in the original family's ownership. Must be unique? Give us call or visit our web site.
