Sithean is a stunning new house on an organic farm hill. Sithean means fairy knoll in Gaelic, and is built overlooking lovely Glen Lonan. The house is self-contained and peaceful. The design allows an intimate connection with the birch woods from the lower level, whilst the entry level allows for South and West facing dining area, (inside and outside), and commands spectacular views of Loch Etive and the shepherds Glencoe to the North, and Ben Cruachan on the east. On the entry level there is a porch, ideally suited fro drying wet boots, clothes and dogs. This leads on the one side to a shower-room and a double bedroom with a mezzanine and twin beds, and on the other side to the kitchen. The kitchen, dining and living areas are open plan, with a vaulted ceiling, and are attractively divided by a split level floor and earth brick walls. There is a wood burning stove in the living area, and underfloor heating throughout the house. On the lower level there is a double room, a twin room and a bathroom with sauna which has direct access onto a decking area. Energy conservation was an important factor in the design of the house; the earth sheltered lower floor is protected from prevailing winds and the living spaces upstairs allow for passive solar gains as well as natural lighting and ventilation. The farm is home to a wealth of wildlife; hen harriers and other birds of prey, red and roe deer, red squirrels, black and red grouse, hares, foxes and pine martens is just some of the wildlife which enjoys the varied habitats. The walking and cycling opportunities are fantastic, and you can relax afterwards in the sauna, and enjoy the comforts and panoramic views of Sithean. It is also a well positioned base for exploring the West Highlands and Islands. Sithean will be available for holiday lets from May 2007.
